Perfect Kitchen for our Cottage

Our lake kitchen needed to be functional and up to date but traditional enough to fit in with our more formal cottage and antiques. Rob designed a perfect kitchen for us. Rob streamlined the look but added the important little details that make a kitchen unique. Our kitchen is wonderful for cooking, it has tons of storage, and it is beautiful to see.

4 Things We Can’t Tell You About This Image

This image has been saved to hundreds of ideabooks, and pinned nearly as many times. Due to the prolific sharing of the image, we’ve been asked many questions about this project.  Well, we should clarify, we’ve been asked four questions over and over again and we are unable to answer them.

Rob Klein Announced as Regional Winner in Highly-Respected Industry Contest

Press Release by Sub-Zero, Inc. and Wolf Appliance, Inc.

This year marks their 10th Kitchen Design Contest and it has become the most highly regarded award program in the kitchen design industry.  This contest is a way for Sub-Zero and Wolf, Inc. to honor the design community and the significant role they play in making Sub-Zero and Wolf a household name when it involves beautiful kitchen design.  These regional winners truly represent achievement in kitchen design.

Rob Klein is the founder and President of Conceptual Kitchens & Millwork based in Carmel, IN.  As a lead designer, Rob Klein brings a fine arts background to the industry:  Equally comfortable with aesthetics and utilitarianism, Rob admits its the aesthetic difference – the design itself – that distinguishes his kitchens from others.  Of th Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest, Klein said, “this contest is the holy grail of design for every kitchen designer.”

Regional winners receive a trip to Sub-Zero and Wolf’s Madison, Wisconsin-based headquarters to attend the National Kitchen Design Contest Gala and Award Ceremony from May 20-21, 2013.  There, more than  $140,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winning designers.

The cooking cube

I am calling this design the cooking cube.  I really love the design if you will notice I pushed the refrigerator and the freezer back, and turned them sideways so the doors opened out.  This move gives some extra counter space and keeps people from getting too far into the cooking area.

Contemporary Classic

I love contemporary design. Done correctly it looks effortless, but don’t be mistaken: there is no room for error. The balance of materials /selections is very important. I love the clean lines, but yet the finish is very warm and inviting.

Appliance placement is everything when it comes to kitchen design. In today’s market they make an appliance for just about every need, so you can really be creative when laying out the appliances for the client. Notice in this kitchen the double ovens are split on the center island. This will allow two cooks in the kitchen and/or freedom to move around the kitchen.

I will post more pictures later,
